What you’ll be doing

The Director, Unsecured Account Management will provide leadership, guidance, and specialized knowledge to staff and clients. The incumbent will develop high quality account management systems and methods to deliver leading edge capabilities for the Unsecured portfolio. By developing short and long-term plans that addresses the needs of account management, internal stakeholders, and external partners, the Director will build the platforms that enable us to manage accounts and optimize the risk/reward trade-off. This includes optimizing the use of leading edge tools with advanced analytical techniques.

How you’ll succeed

  • People Leadership - Build capabilities that position CIBC to manage risk and optimize return through sophisticated analytics. Foster and promote an environment of collaboration, inspiring others to perform by being an effective role model and championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values.

  • Innovation and Results Driven Leadership - Leading risk management initiatives for account management to ensure that effective systems are implemented while continuously developing a team of business specialists. Exercise strategic vision to drive innovation and process enhancement efforts, targeting key operational pain points with focus on resolution and efficient resource utilization. Develop a 1-3 year roadmap for account management strategies and tools ensuring alignment with the account management approach of the other products. Direct the development of risk segmentation strategies within the account management system. Effectively track, monitor and measure the deployment of strategy changes and recommend refinements as necessary.

  • Strategic Data Analysis - Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and interpretation of all data analysis output provided by the team in support of risk strategy design. Continuously challenge and improve risk strategy through analysis of customer behavior data and sophisticated statistical/data mining techniques. Deliver comprehensive recommendations/proposals to management including executives and business leaders.

Who you are

  • You have a degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, an MBA or 5 or more years of practical experience in retail credit risk management.

  • You can demonstrate strong working knowledge of retail unsecured lending policies and practices, both internal and industry-wide, as well as regulatory requirements and legislation (e.g. the Bank Act) regarding risk related to unsecured lending. You also have substantial experience with the development of acquisition and account management risk strategies and decision rules as well as the associated automated systems, tools and technologies (eg. Capstone, CASA, Decision Manager, or other such automated systems). Further, you have the ability to manage, influence and interact with senior bank personnel at a strategic business level, and able to move from “big picture” to detailed level in order to keep projects and initiatives moving forward to a successful conclusion. It is an asset if you have understanding of the design and development methodologies used for predictive risk models.
