Senior Financial Analyst – Merch Finance

We are currently looking for highly motivated, customer obsessed, and results oriented Senior Financial Analysts to join our finance organization supporting the Nordstrom Merchandising Group – open roles are described below. These individuals will be responsible for proactively driving results in close partnership with the business including by building financial models to support near-term forecasts and long-term planning as well as by providing insights on key drivers of business performance.

**These are hybrid roles in the Seattle, WA area. You must be willing to work at the Nordstrom downtown Seattle office a minimum of 3 days/week to be considered for these roles.

A day in the life…

  • Lead processes for supporting activities and analysis related to weekly, monthly, quarterly performance and forecasts, as well as annual and long-term plans

  • Use a variety of data sources and KPIs to enhance and build detailed financial models that support financial plans and provide insights into past performance and/or future trends

  • Partner with multiple cross-functional teams in planning and analyzing the business to drive action and improve future outcomes

  • Effectively discuss tradeoffs, benefits, and the prioritization of various approaches with business leaders

  • Perform ad hoc analyses and special projects as assigned, and clearly communicate findings to support leadership decisions

You own this if you have…

  • 3+ years of related experience

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Proven experience in analysis, modeling, and reporting financial performance, with a strong sense of curiosity

  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and timelines

  • Excellent computer skills including Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Anaplan, Tableau, and SQL a plus

  • Ability to independently develop processes and deliverables from general direction

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Attention to detail, data integrity and accuracy

We are currently hiring for the following roles:

  • Expense Role: This role will be responsible for supporting Nordstrom Product Group (NPG) expense management and capital investments by building financial models to support near-term forecasts and long-term planning, providing insightful reporting of key drivers of business performance, tracking of tech initiatives and capital investments, and maintaining effective business partner relationships.

  • Consolidation Role: This role will be responsible for consolidating month-end gross margin results and ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial reporting by collaborating with respective business partners, developing and implementing processes to streamline the consolidation process, and supporting audits and external reporting requirements.

  • Divisional Support Role: This role will support a subset of our Divisional areas (e.g., Apparel / Designer / Shoes / Beauty) by directly partnering with business leaders and their teams, providing data-driven insights on performance & opportunities, and supporting action plans to deliver on sales, margin, and inventory goals. This role will also support planning for major product strategies and business initiatives, incorporating ongoing performance to drive future results.

  • NPG Support Role: This role will support Nordstrom Product Group (known as NPG, Nordstrom’s private label business) sales, margin, and business share by directly partnering with NPG leaders, providing data-driven insights on our performance, opportunities, and supporting action plans to drive business results.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Washington: $69,500 - $132,000 Annually

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
