Siemens Energy Strip Line Operator - 2nd Shift in Rural Hall, North Carolina

A Snapshot of Your Day

The primary purpose of this position is to operate a chemical strip line for the purpose of removing thermal coatings and/or deposits from industrial gas turbine components.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Cleaning, prepping & operating strip line for acid stripping of turbine components.

  • Receive assignments, oral and/or written, from supervision.

  • Read and interpret production order information.

  • Retrieve information from the production order; programs, acid, temperature and run-time under the oversight of a Level 4 operator:

  • Build new programs as required to alkaline clean or acidic strip components.

  • Input furnace parameters to perform de-wax and burn out operations.

  • Load, unload, and operate equipment to alkaline clean and/or acidic strip components, following procedures indicated.

  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering work instructions to accurately mask components (Both wax and Dymax)

  • Maintain water levels, acid, and/or water alkaline cleaning solution per specified instructions.

  • Set and maintain tank controls at levels called out in SOP’s.

  • Cure parts per spec requirements

  • Load, unload and operate Air-Furnaces located in I&A/Thermal Spray

  • Must be able to grit blast and other preparatory operations as needed for stripping operations.

  • Make a visual check of components after each cleaning or stripping to determine when process is complete.

  • Mark and/or record required written information per Standard Practice Instruction.

  • Notify supervision of irregularities or equipment malfunctions.

  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment as specified in PM instructions.

  • Keep work area clean, orderly, and safe.

  • Use a handheld XRF analyzer to determine what parts of the part need stripping.

  • Use proper rigging practices.

  • Monitor run and take the parts out when the coating has been completely striped.

  • Check all components of the grit blasting machines, replace parts if worn out.

  • Do PM daily on all machinery.

  • Sample tank acid and send to the lab for testing, act accordingly on the results.

  • Pump and Clean Tanks when needed.

  • Complete Lab documentation, maintenance paperwork, and daily PM/scrubber sheets.

  • Always use proper PPE, gloves, face shield, Tyvek suit and aprons, use accordingly to the job you are performing.

What You Bring

  • Must complete HAZWOPER training annually and be able to wear a respirator.

  • Must meet all job requirements of Masking Operator

  • Must have current forklift certification.

  • Entry-level position - Requires proficient digital literacy in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Proficiency Expectations: With the above knowledge/skills, it is expected to take six (6) months maximum to become proficient in all the job responsibilities.

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
