GENERAL FUNCTION

The Shields Process Technician supports the production team in ensuring the manufacturing process is in control and meeting required quality, yield, and productivity targets. You will also be involved in new equipment and product introductions, supporting development, validation and industrialization activities. As a result, you will work with staff in various functions including, but not limited to: operations, engineering, quality, safety, facilities, and external and internal suppliers/customers. You will also be the primary mixer for all production related chemicals, and support the development and validation of any new mixing procedures that enter production.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in partnership with operations management, supervisors, and team members to ensure production KPI targets are met; including but not limited to yield, productivity, etc

  • Supports and makes recommendations to operations management and supervisors in all areas related to continuous improvement activities on the production line

  • Be the primary mixer for all operations related chemicals and support development and validation of mixing procedures for any new chemicals being introduced into production

  • Supports operations manager with production chemical inventory management, including tracking coating usage, monthly cycle counts, etc

  • Supports validation of all new equipment and products into the production line

  • Involved in writing, change management, periodic audits and making recommendations for improvements in reference to production SOPs, process control plan, etc

  • Share relevant and timely information with supervisors and operations management

  • Occasional support on off-shifts or weekends as required by business demands

  • May be required to become certified in various areas: Hazmat, chemical handling, & CPR, etc

  • Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in specified areas including appropriate garments which adhere to GMP in clean rooms or other areas

  • Be a role model for safe behaviors and following safety best practices

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • +5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment in a technical role or technical certification/qualification obtained or a combination thereof

  • Must be capable of working near or around various chemicals

  • Good communication & interpersonal skills, and the ability to be open minded & collaborative with others

  • Must be capable of working independently on complex assignments with little to no supervision

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems, and escalate problems upwards when necessary

  • Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

  • Able to lift 10 pounds occasionally throughout the day, up to 25 pounds infrequently

  • Near vision, color vision and depth perception

  • Requires presence on production floor. Frequent standing, walking and reaching. Occasional climbing, bending, stooping and twisting. Knowledge in the safe use of shop equipment, hand tools and operation of electromechanical equipment.

  • Knowledge of clean room technology and coatings is strongly desired.
