PREMYOM* is an ambitious 5-year project of biomedical innovation for the benefit of young people and eye health. The aim is to bring the therapeutic treatment of myopia into the era of personalization. Lead partner EssilorLuxottica is leading the adventure with 5 renowned French partners in the fields of health (Hôpital Fondation Adolphe de Rothschild), research (INRIA, Institut de la Vision, Institut Mines Télécom) and industry (start-up Insimo), at the crossroads of biology and clinical research, optics and optometry, modeling, simulation and AI, embedded devices and microstructured materials. Premyom, whose €41 million budget is co-financed by the France 2030 national plan, is recruiting talent from all these fields to enrich the community of 60 women and men committed together on a daily basis to preventing the myopia epidemic.

To accelerate the development of new technologies in a strategic sector, EssilorLuxottica is strengthening its expertise in computational neuroscience.

This position aims to investigate the neural mechanisms of the retina through simulation in the field of myopia control. From existing generic models, create personalized models of the processing of visual information by the retina that accounts for individual clinical data.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATED ACTIVITIES:

  • Contribute to innovation by managing a study or a program

  • Extract relevant data from the clinical tests of myopia control solutions and knowledge of the normal emmetropization process.

  • Use optical measurement and simulation tools (eye, lens) to obtain the optical transformations of the different associations between myopia control solutions and the characteristics of patients' eyes.

  • Make the link between these transformations and information processing by the retina, in collaboration with the Institut de la Vision.

  • Identify key parameters that explain group or inter-individual differences.

  • Propose design features with maximum, personalized slowdown efficiency.

  • Communicate internally and externally, oral and written

  • Governance committees, internal reports

  • Scientific conferences and publications

You will work with internal teams specialised in vision science, myopia as well as computing experts based in Créteil and Singapore and you will also have close interactions with the Institut de la Vision in Paris and other partners of EssilorLuxottica as part of the Premyom project.

EXPERIENCE, TECHNICAL SKILLS AND BACKGROUND OF THE CANDIDATE:

  • Educational background, ideally PhD, in Computational Modeling, Neurosciences or Physical Optics

  • Solid experience in modeling, deep-learning approaches

  • Solid experience with Python

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Application oriented

  • Ability to vulgarize, to adapt to his/her audience/team

  • Interpersonal skills, ability to work with multidisciplinary teams

  • Nice to have: postdoctoral experience in the same field

  • Proficient level in French and English
