Google Hardware Engineer III, Field Performance in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience working in a hardware engineering technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

  • Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action documentation.

  • Experience with data analytics and reliability analysis.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

  • Experience with Python, SQL, JMP, and Weibull++.

  • Experience in data modeling including regression, machine learning, and exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs).

Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google's services. As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

In this role, you will support Google’s efforts to build and ship safe and reliable consumer products. You will work closely with other cross-functional teams to identify areas to improve product excellence across our portfolio. You will drive work to quantify the business impact of the related engineering choices, and work with cross-functional teams to identify improvements for future generations. The primary areas of focus for this role are data and field failure analysis.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Navigate and synthesize product datasets to identify and motivate areas for product improvement.

  • Identify root causes to systemic issues by leveraging all available data sources, including Focus Area, and referring to cross-product and generation-over-generation information.

  • Recommend and drive corrective action to improve future products.

  • Develop scripts, tools, and processes to automate and accelerate future work streams.
