Position Description:

Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional policies related to sponsored programs.

  • Excellently write, edit, and develop for submission: Manuscripts, posters, grant proposals, letters of intent, etc. in support of departmental faculty and resident research.

  • Assist faculty in proposal development, including budget, research design, strategy, and timeline, and prepare proposals for submission to OSP for Institutional approval.

  • Provide operational supervision of externally funded projects within the Department.

  • Ensure externally sponsored funds are spent on time according to the approved research project timeline and purchases are properly justified and allowable.

  • Advance and grow the department research enterprise in support of the mission and vision laid out by the Chair by networking and actively seeking external and internal partners.

  • Train faculty, residents, and staff in research policies and assist with all aspects of research administration within the Department.

  • Participate in the implementation of the Resident Research Curriculum.

  • Assist the Director in supporting research initiatives in the Department.

  • Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.

  • Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP’s values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork).

  • Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Public Health or related field preferred.

  • At least two years of experience working on clinical research projects.
