Caris Life Sciences Regional Account Director – South Central - Central in Austin, Texas

Position Summary

The Regional Account Director is a critical role in the ongoing management of field-based Account Managers (AMs) and Senior Account Managers at Caris Life Sciences. Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the development of individual employee goals and expectations, mentoring and evaluating AMs, monitoring AMs’ adherence to all applicable Caris policies and ethical standards, visiting AMs and clients in their respective territories, assisting with ongoing field and office-based training, reviewing all expense report/mileage/CRM entries for accuracy, and recruiting/interviewing/hiring candidates for open territories. The Regional Account Director will also engage with the National VP of Account Management on a weekly basis (at a minimum) to provide status updates the team’s performance, issues, etc.

This goal of the AM team is to maintain/grow Caris case volume and provide exceptional service to current Caris customers. The Director will work closely with AMs to address any logistical hurdles which may impede the facilitation of tissue submissions, requisition submissions, etc. The Director will network with key functional areas throughout Caris (including Customer Support, Commercial Education, HR, Legal/Compliance, Marketing, Finance, Lab Ops, IT, etc.) to ensure that they are keeping their teams abreast of corporate updates, key process changes, etc. The Director will also partner with the Caris matrix sales teams (RBD, MOS, POA, Precision Medicine Initiatives, Strategic Accounts, etc.) to ensure that AMs are working in unison with their matrix team to provide outstanding service to clients and delivering on assigned pull-through activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Hire, train and develop high-performing AM teams.

  • Immediately address any issues that require corrective action and escalate to management as needed.

  • Provide performance feedback to each AM and Senior AM via regularly scheduled 1:1 discussions.

  • Provide a weekly status update to the National VP of Account Management regarding team performance, key achievements, performance issues, attainment achievement, etc.

  • Provide field-based management support to each AM and Senior AM; personally, work with each AM at least twice during the year (in the field or at the corporate office)

  • Work with AMs to teach them how to effectively navigate and manage their territories to ensure that all target clients are engaged with on a weekly and monthly basis.

  • Meet/exceed assigned Area attainment goals.

  • Review/monitor AMs’ submissions re: CRM, expense reports, MOTUS, etc.

  • Ensure that all AMs/Senior AMs are adhering to Caris policies and procedures regarding the use of PHI (both internally and externally). This will require close coordination with Compliance and Commercial Education to regularly engage the team along this subject matter.

  • Ensure that AMs/Senior AMs are conducting themselves in an ethical, professional manner at all times. Immediately escalate any issues to the National VP of Account Management/HR/Compliance in which an AM/Senior AM fails to meet these standards.

  • Develop and implement performance improvement plans for employees as needed.

  • Effectively allocate your time across the entire region

  • Cultivate and manage key client relationships within the region to drive depth and breadth across a practice.

  • Hold AMs and Senior AMs accountable for all assigned administrative work (CRM entries, expense reports, MOTUS, etc.)

  • Consistently demonstrate a high sense of urgency, follow-up and maintain integrity in all business interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Previous experience of 3+ years of successful Sales and/or Account Management experience is required.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing, leading, training a field team to success.

  • Ability to quickly learn and apply knowledge of proprietary software programs.

  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, reliable vehicle, and automobile insurance that meets Caris requirements.

  • Willingness to travel regularly, locally or on day trips, to meet in person with clients and prospects.

  • This position requires that you spend 60-70% of your time in the field meeting with clients and prospects.

  • Conditions of Employment: Individuals must successfully complete pre-employment process, which includes criminal background check, drug screening, and reference verification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA preferred.

  • Pharma, Medical Device, or Diagnostic experience preferred.

  • Oncology experience preferred.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Demonstrated decision-making ability towards solving problems, while working under pressure and effectively communicating these solutions to co-workers and customers

  • General understanding of business policies and practices

  • Must be a self-starter requiring little supervision.

  • Excellent time management skills

  • High degree of personal organization and ability to multi-task
