Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of More In Common Alliance and CommonSpirit Health, this leader serves as a strategic advisor, transformation leader and program manager to the SVP and Chief Administrative Officer. This role develops and integrates, synthesizes, and unifies mission-critical efforts and priorities. This role frames and structures complex transformation initiatives, prioritizes and steers projects to drive continuous process improvement, leads insightful and actionable analytics supporting operational and fiduciary efficiencies, and aligns policies and procedures with strategic goals.

Essential Job Functions

Growth, Expansion and Strategy Program Leader

o The AVP , Chief of Staff, will serve a pivotal role as a thought-partner, convener, organizer, and operational leader for the expansion and growth of the More in Common Alliance.

o Reporting to the Senior Vice President, System SVP and Chief Administrative Officer of the More In Common Alliance, the AVP will develop a deep understanding of Morehouse School of Medicine’s mission and vision for the More In Common Alliance, and the partnership between Morehouse School of Medicine and Common Spirit Health.

o This role is the partner to the Executive leader and will support all efforts to enact the creation of five (5) regional campuses, and ten (10) GME programs. This leader will enable that vision; and build, evolve, and scale the infrastructure necessary to support the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of this transformative expansion of MSM .

o The AVP will lead the development of expansion strategies and workstreams; facilitate and ensure a programmatic effort in their execution; and develop and implement an accountability framework consisting of meetings, reports, analytics, and other materials needed to effectively manage the growth and related workstreams.

o A core responsibility for this role is the ownership to drive internal and intra-department interdependencies across the two institutions ( MSM and CommonSpirit Health) and within Morehouse School of Medicine (admissions, accreditation, Office of Educational Outcomes and Effectiveness, UME and GME ).

o Establish program infrastructure, develop change management strategy, and identify and track program dependencies.

o Drive, prioritize, track, and manage transformation initiatives based on strategic planning principles with transparent and measurable outcomes.

o Leverages analytics and data insights to understand and develop insights to address critical problems, assist in implementing recommendations, solutions, and impact assessment.

o Foster and champion organizational change; oversees projects using project management and organizational change management disciplines.

o In partnership with the Office of Institutional Advancement, assist the Office of The Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, More In Common Alliance in identifying synergistic activities that may yield entrepreneurial and philanthropic gains in support of student success.

o Track progress against all key initiatives. Provide regular visibility to project status (key decisions, dependencies, issues, risks, and metrics) on a standard cadence through status reporting and program/work stream reviews.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Support the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of More In Common Alliance and CommonSpirit Health in solution-driven processes through knowledge acquisition and subject matter expertise development in collaborative coordination with Department Chairs, Institute Directors, and Department Directors of Finance and Business Operations.

· Liaise with internal and external constituents, including senior leadership, faculty, staff, students, industry leaders, and government and community officials and the media in support of strategic partnerships and strategic communication.

· Participate in meetings and events as a representative of the More In Common Alliance.

· Anticipate and identify issues for discussion at key management meetings; identify appropriate meeting participants: work with appropriate departments to prepare and/or manage briefings, presentations, and responses on institutional and strategic issues.

· Manage changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints, risk exposure and interdependencies.

· Use data to drive the results of key performance indicators essential for growth.

· Assist the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of More In Common Alliance and CommonSpirit Health in the execution of the mission to addressing the underlying causes of health inequities, and spearheading a 10-year, $100-million initiative to expand undergraduate and graduate medical education and train the next generation of culturally competent health clinicians and researchers.

· In partnership with CommonSpirit Health, assist the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of More In Common Alliance and CommonSpirit Health to focus combined resources, reach, expertise, and experience to address health disparities among underserved populations.

· In coordination with the Director of Finance and Business Operations, assist the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of More In Common Alliance and CommonSpirit Health in providing fiduciary oversight and assessment of financial and operational outcomes for More In Common Alliance using data analytics.

· Serve as the liaison with Human Resources to be responsive to workforce needs by attracting, training, and retaining talent.

o Create and maintain an effective communication plan to ensure frequent, accurate, and timely communication with the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of More In Common Alliance and CommonSpirit Health.

· Oversee the generation of annual reports and presentations including reports to the Board of Trustees or other entities generated by the Office of Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of More In Common Alliance and CommonSpirit Health.

· Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Follows established Morehouse School of Medicine and department policies procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.

This role has the unique position to align with various senior stakeholders, while collaborating and partnering with executive leadership and senior faculty across two institutions. Able to navigate two complex cultures and operate seamlessly in both environments.

Must demonstrate sound judgment; the ability to handle responsibilities with discretion and independence; integrity and professionalism; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; exceptional oral and written communication skills; and the ability to work collaboratively leading as well as executing and taking constructive input from multiple sources.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university

  • Minimum of seven+ years related experience, including experience in program or project management.

  • Demonstrated financial and business acumen.

  • Demonstrated ability to frame and structure problems, projects, and initiatives and synthesize complex information from a multitude of resources into an achievable and actionable plan.

  • Proficient in process improvement, effectiveness, and operational execution.

  • Demonstrated experience developing effective KPI’s, dashboards and making executive presentations.

  • Proven analytical/problem-solving skills.

  • Strong time management, organizational skills, and detail orientation.

  • Experience working in a dynamic environment with a commitment to meeting deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise excellent judgment and discretion in handling highly confidential information.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with individuals at all levels, internally and externally.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities from various constituents with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • A high degree of professionalism and a strong work ethic coupled with a sense of responsibility and integrity are required.

  • Ability to resolve problems independently and work with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.

  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required sources.

    Preferred Qualifications

· Master’s degree preferred, including MA, MBA , MPM , JD, or terminal degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

· Preference will be given to those with such experience in a medical school, academic medical center, teaching hospital or research university.

· Previous experience as a member of an organizations’ executive management team is highly preferred.

· 7+ years’ experience in leadership, driving large scale transformations.

· Prior employment with a top strategy consulting firm (Aon Hewitt, McKinsey, BCG , EY, Deloitte etc.) ideally in on their healthcare, biological sciences, or higher education verticals

· Experience in higher education.

· Experience in a high growth organization, scaling an organization (business or otherwise)

· Proven experience integrating complex, cross-organization processes, and information strategies.

· Highly proficient in data management, data governance and reporting.

· Demonstrated willingness to deal with tight deadlines and ambiguity.
