Job Information

Diageo Director, RTD and FMB Brand Management in 3 World Trade Center, New York

Job Description :

Diageo is a global leader in beverage alcohol with an outstanding collection of brands including Guinness, Smirnoff and Smirnoff ICE, Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, Bulleit and Buchanan's whiskies, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray and The Cocktail Collection, which pulls together many of our best trademarks in a convenient, ready-to-serve format.

Our performance ambition is to be one of the best performing, most trusted and respected consumer products companies in the world. We are proud of the brands we make and the enjoyment they give to millions. We are passionate about alcohol playing a positive role in society as part of a balanced lifestyle. It is central to our purpose to celebrate life, every day, everywhere!

One of Diageo’s top priorities is winning in Pre-Mix—single serve ready-to-drink and multi-serve ready-to-serve. The core categories within this area are:

Seltzers (ex: Lone River) FMB (flavored malt beverages – ex: Smirnoff Ice) RTD – Ready to drink – spirit brand and “mixer” in a can or bottle (ex: Smirnoff Vodka Soda and Loyal) RTS – Ready to Serve – a spirit cocktail that is ready to pour into a glass—like our Cocktail Collection flag shipped by brands like Ketel One and Bulleit

In a world where people are looking for convenient and portable solutions – these categories are on trend. Pre-mix formats are a key growth driver across all spirits categories. On top of an existing successful Smirnoff FMB/Seltzer business, Diageo is not just here to play, but to WIN in Pre-Mix—both by growing existing items, through trademark innovation and NTW incubation innovation.

We are looking for a high-energy and organized self-starter to lead the RTD + FMB team. This role spans classic trademarks, like Crown and Captain Morgan, to newer brands like Lone River, so we are looking for someone with experience managing big and small brands.

Strong connectivity with commercial is a MUST to succeed in this role, so strong relationships with the spirits and beer sides of our business is key. This role already includes management and P&L responsibility for one full trademark and the Pre-Mix portion of three other brands, so experience with the complexities of managing a team is key.

Purpose of Role

In this role you will lead the five-person RTD + FMB team, reporting to DBC CMO and SVP of Pre-Mix. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead our biggest RTD brand, Crown, our newest FMB brand, Captain Morgan Sliced, Captain Morgan RTS and Ciroc RTDs. Additionally, you have total responsibility Lone River.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Lead performance management, including annual AOP/P&L delivery, with our Commercial, Finance, and Supply multifunctional partners

  • Develop best-in-class marketing and go-to-market plans for our portfolio of brands, either directly leading this work for brands that are Pre-Mix-led, such as Loyal, or collaborating with brand leaders who are launching RTD/RTS extensions

  • Build new category capabilities that will help deliver the plan and make Diageo a preferred retail partner, including shopper and commerce tools

  • Partner closely with commercial on sell-in, distribution and performance tracking. Fight for fair-share of mind with commercial teams.

  • Collaborate closely with our Innovation team to win in strategic "hunting grounds" and ensure the portfolio increases margin over time

  • Work with our M&A team to identify, recommend and integrate future brands into the portfolio

  • Create a team culture that is entrepreneurial and envisions new possibilities for the category, but also operates with excellence, using data and analytics to advance our mission

  • Be an integral team member enabling transformative growth through best-in-class brand building across all consumer touchpoints

Experience

  • 10+ years marketing experience with track record of creating / implementing brand strategies and campaigns with tangible results

  • Consumer goods experience preferred, three-tiered industries or alcohol beverage experience a plus

  • Highly skilled relationship builder and influencer

  • Ability to demonstrate consumer insight and achieve creative excellence and effective marketing programs

  • Strong commercial skill with ability to enroll and motivate a large, complex sales organization

  • Ability to maintain positive outlook amidst challenges and effectively problem-solve and make decisions

  • Ability to handle multiple projects effectively, prioritize and drive to action
